AquaCritox®
AquaCritox® super critical water technology has been around since the 1980's when Super Critical Water Oxidation research was under taken in the University of Texas in Austin Texas USA. It was recognized that the technology of SCWO as Super Critical Water Oxidation became known, offered a new way of treating wet waste materials through oxidation at a temperature exceeding 374 degree Celsius and a pressure exceeding 221 bar. The technology converted all organic material into carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water without the formation of hazardous residues or emissions in just a few seconds. The AquaCritox® technology was identified as being particularly appropriate for wet materials as the SCWO process is self supporting when a few percent of organic material is present in the feed stream as the oxidation reaction is exothermic.
AquaCritox® is a patent protected process based on super critical water oxidation. The AquaCritox® process design incorporates patented design features that overcome the issues previously encountered by early researchers of super critical water oxidation. These include pumping, feed injection, processing capacity, heat exchange, corrosion, pressure let down and energy recovery. AquaCritox® is capable of treating up to 25 cubic metres of liquid per hour per process line and can accommodate a solids content of up to 25%. The AquaCritox® process incorporates the generation of electricity whenever sufficient excess energy is generated.
The AquaCritox® process has been developed over twenty years and is a robust effective economical process for the destruction of organic materials and the recovery of valuable inorganic materials such as precious metals, phosphorous, paper filler etc.
