Held at Vienna’s City Hall, the annual awards celebrate outstanding pioneering projects and technologies from across the world that address today’s most pressing environmental issues.

The Energy Globes attracted an impressive 6,000 projects and entries from over 150 countries, with SCFI’s AquaCritox shortlisted as one of the top four entries in the awards’ ‘Water’ category. Comments SCFI chief operating officer David Kerr: “Being recognised on a global scale by such a renowned and respected environmental platform marks a huge a success for us at SCFI. We have dedicated years into developing a solution to what is a huge commercial, social and environmental problem globally – namely the disposal of wet waste. Our AquaCritox technology does just this – fully destructing wet waste in an economical, sustainable process while simultaneously generating renewable energy. We’re honoured that global environmental experts have recognised the technology’s unique benefits.”

AquaCritox is the only technology to fully destruct wet organic waste in a sustainable process. It offers an attractive alternative to current methods of incineration, landfill and land-spreading, delivering 99.99%+ destruction of organic waste safely, without generating any hazardous emissions or odours. As well as reducing the carbon footprint of a treatment plant, AquaCritox recovers valuable by-products and is the first technology to have a positive energy balance from processing wet waste.
