About SCFI

In 2007, SCFI was founded with the vision to revolutionise wet waste treatment. The same year, SCFI acquired the worldwide intellectual property rights for the AquaCritox® process, along with two AquaCritox units. The inaugural unit was installed in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, Ireland, in May 2008.

At this facility, SCFI conducted process optimisation and analysed process waste samples for our customers. While the plant excelled in waste destruction, it encountered challenges related to corrosion and severe fouling, the same issues that had hindered the development of Supercritical Water Oxidation systems since their introduction in laboratory studies in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Undeterred, SCFI embarked on an extensive journey of experimentation and modification. Our dedicated team delved into the root causes of blockages and corrosion, striving to find effective solutions. This relentless pursuit of knowledge and innovation led us to develop AquaCritox SCWO Gen 3 and other cutting-edge hydrothermal oxidation technologies.

Our ultimate goal remains unwavering: to revolutionise wastewater treatment, making it more sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly. SCFI is creating a cleaner future with Smarter Environmental Technologies.
