Hydrothermal treatment and partial oxidation can enhance the biogas yield from digestion. Depending on the biomatter, improved gas yields can be achieved at temperatures as low as 170°C. The AquaCritox® process can be used both for partial oxidation and thermal decomposition at a wide variety of process conditions, producing biogas yields unmatched by other processes.
Supercritical processing is also possible with our SCWO technology, which can generate significant quantities of hot water; and combined with an organic Rankine cycle, can produce electricity. AquaCritox SCWO can generate in excess of 480kWh of electrical power per tonne of dry solids processed.
